Shires and Tractors

No country show would be complete without a Shire Horse section. These beautiful heavy horses attract large crowds year after year.

The Shire horse is the most numerous and the largest of heavy horses found in this country.

It’s main characteristics are it’s nice silky feathers on it’s legs. The history of the breed goes back to the medieval great horse which used to carry knights in battle. In the 1800’s the Shire horse became the main power in agriculture and commerce, particularly in the docks and railways.

Please come over and have a look at these beautiful horses being judged this year by Mr W. E. Massey from Cheshire.
